About

I have been called.  So have you.  We have all been called by God.  It sounds different to each person…and why shouldn’t it?  Jesus called each of the disciples in a different way depending on who they were, what they did for a living, who they were with…but to each he said “FOLLOW ME”.  Like Abraham, I don’t know where I will end up (on this earth), but isn’t the journey just as important as the destination?  Our earthly lives are but a mist…the question then is…what difference do we make for eternity?  How do we live our earthly lives with eternal purpose?  The answer is simple and yet so complicated….GLORIFY GOD…but what does that look like?  As I’ve been studying this concept, I have found to glorify means to exalt, to honor (respect), to praise, and most importantly to make GOD KNOWN.

That is why I am on earth.   That is why I am now choosing to leave my family for a year to go to Kenya.  I’m catching glimpses of the big picture.  God is too big to be contained by 1 or 2 cultures…He desires that each people group, tribe, and nation would KNOW HIM.  And what a privilege it is to be a part of God’s work!

In Kenya, I will be using my photography to capture what God is doing in the lives of people.   This work will then be used by the local missionaries as well as SIM to communicate with supporters, to implore other harvesters to join in the harvest, and to further their local ministry.  In addition to photography, I will be doing hands on ministry which may include working in orphanages, home visits in the Kibera slum, and women’s ministry.  I am planning to leave in March and will be overseas for a year.  I don’t know what my future holds…whether it is a life involved in missions or whether God will call me to stay in America and support other missionaries.  I am planning to go but am willing to stay.

 For the Glory of God.

Christy, I am so excited for you as you begin this new adventure in your life. Trust me, it’s life changing!! Are you ready for your life to be shaken and your world to be turned upside down? I am so pumped you have this opportunity during this next year to be completely on your own–depending only on God. My time in Uzbekistan was amazing. I wish everyone could experience something like it. Praise God you have a heart that is willing to go. May you bless others as well as be blessed.
    In Him,
    Joy
